1. Who we are

Swagman's Shelf (swagmansshelf.com.au) is an Australian ebook price tracking service. We help Australian readers find the best prices on ebooks across Kobo AU, Google Play Books AU and Apple Books AU. You can contact us at contact@swagmansshelf.com.au.

2. Information we collect

We collect the minimum information necessary to provide our service:

• Email address: to create your account and send you price drop alerts
• Password: stored securely as a one-way hash. We never store your plain text password.
• Shelf data: the books you add to your shelf and their tracked prices
• Buy link clicks: when you click through to a store, we record the book, the store and the time, and your account if you're logged in. We don't store your IP address with it.
• Usage data: basic server logs including IP addresses and page visits, retained for 30 days

3. How we use your information

• To provide the price tracking and email alert service
• To email you when a price drops on a book on your shelf (at most one email a day)
• To improve and maintain the service
• To comply with legal obligations

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating this service.

4. Sharing your information

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties, except:

• Service providers: we use Render (web hosting), Cloudflare (network and security in front of the site), Supabase (database) and Resend (email delivery) to operate the service. They process data on our behalf under their own data processing terms.
• Fonts and page styles: pages load fonts from Google Fonts and page styles from Tailwind's content delivery network (cdn.tailwindcss.com). Your browser sends your IP address to those services when a page loads, as it does for any file fetched from another site. They don't receive your email address or anything about your account.
• Affiliate programs: Kindle links carry our Amazon Associates code. When you follow one, you're on Amazon's site, and Amazon may collect information such as your IP address and browser details to credit the referral. We don't send Amazon your email address or anything about your account. Amazon's handling is covered by the Amazon.com.au Privacy Notice. When other programs go live, the relevant network (such as Rakuten Advertising for Kobo AU) may do the same. Rakuten Advertising's privacy policy is available at rakutenadvertising.com.
• Legal requirements: if required by Australian law or a valid legal process.

5. Affiliate links

Swagman's Shelf is an Amazon Associate and earns from qualifying purchases made through its Kindle links. It is applying to other retailer affiliate programs. Where a program is live, buying through its link may earn Swagman's Shelf a small commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate relationships never influence which books we track or the prices we display. See our Affiliate Disclosure for full details and current status.

6. Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the Account section of your shelf. That removes your account, your shelf, any price drop emails not yet sent, and your buy link clicks straight away. You can also ask us to do it by emailing contact@swagmansshelf.com.au, and we'll process it within 30 days.

7. Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988, you have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your information
• Withdraw consent to marketing emails at any time

8. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from unauthorised access, including encrypted passwords, HTTPS connections, and secure database storage. However, no internet transmission is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes by email. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
