I work as a performer in theme parks, and my Kobo is rarely out of sight. At the moment I'm mostly reading fantasy and sci-fi, but honestly I'll read anything I can get my hands on.

My favourite thing is stumbling onto an author I've never heard of and going down the rabbit hole of everything they've written.

Why I built it

Keeping an eye on prices for my to-read list got out of hand. I had watchlists on different sites that never matched, and it got to the point where I'd paste my whole list into a search engine just to see what everything cost.

Half the prices that came back weren't even Australian. I wanted one place that showed Australian prices and nothing else, so in May 2026 I started building it.

How it works

Add a book to your shelf once. Every morning the site checks its price on Kobo AU, Google Play Books AU and Apple Books AU, and when it drops you get one email with the new price and a link to buy. If nothing drops, there's no email, and every email has a one-click unsubscribe.

Kobo checks are paused at the moment. Kobo prices on the site show the date they were last checked.

Prices come straight from the stores. Nothing gets marked up to make a discount look bigger than it is.

What's next

The plan is to cover all the major stores. Kindle is the big gap: getting reliable Amazon prices is tricky, so it's still on the to-do pile.

The other big one is importing your list from Goodreads, The StoryGraph or Margins, so you don't have to add your to-read pile one book at a time.

No ads

Like most people, I can't stand ads, so there aren't any here and there won't be. The site is free, and nobody's data gets sold.

Where a store runs an affiliate program, the site may earn a small commission when you buy through its links, at no extra cost to you. Amazon is the only one live so far, for Kindle links. Commissions will never change which books are tracked or the prices shown. Swagman's Shelf is independent and isn't affiliated with Kobo, Google, Apple, Amazon or any publisher.
