1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They let a website remember things between pages and visits, such as that you're logged in.
2. How we use cookies
Swagman's Shelf sets three cookies of its own. None are used for advertising, analytics or tracking, and all three are HttpOnly, which means only our server reads them; scripts on the page can't.

3. Essential cookies and browser storage
access_token and csrf_token are strictly necessary. Without them you can't log in or submit forms, so they can't be turned off. shelf_last_visit only powers the "drops since you last looked" note on your shelf; if you block it, everything else still works.
Your shelf also remembers whether you chose the grid or list view, and your sort order, using your browser's local storage. That stays on your device and is never sent to us.
4. Affiliate tracking cookies
Swagman's Shelf itself sets no affiliate cookies. When you follow a Kindle link, Amazon may set its own cookie on amazon.com.au to credit the referral to our Amazon Associates account. That cookie is Amazon's, set on Amazon's site, and governed by Amazon's privacy notice.
When other affiliate programs go live, clicking a purchase link may cause the relevant network (such as Rakuten Advertising for Kobo AU) to set a third-party cookie that tracks the referral and credits any resulting commission. Those cookies are set by the network, not by Swagman's Shelf, and are governed by the network's own privacy policy. Cookies of this kind typically persist for up to 30 days. When tracking is active, you can opt out via Rakuten Advertising's privacy policy.
5. Third party cookies
We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising or tracking services, and no third-party cookies are set through our site. Pages do load fonts from Google Fonts and page styles from Tailwind's content delivery network, so your browser contacts those services when a page loads. 6. Managing cookies
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling our authentication cookie will prevent you from staying logged in. Instructions for managing cookies in common browsers:
